How we work

Mobile Maths provides students with a tutor to give them extra assistance at home with their school subjects. It is like having a personal teacher all to yourself! During a typical lesson our tutors will assist in one or more of the following ways:

• Explain work in which the student has fallen behind
• Re-explain difficult new work being done in school
• Identify and explain practical, re-usable methods
• Challenge understanding through additional questions
• Exposure to typical exam questions, including “trick questions”
• Exam coaching

Consistency with school content

Schools often use different text books and go through the syllabus in a different sequence. We are careful not to overwhelm students too soon with different methods than they are used to. With each student we use the school’s text book and techniques as a point of departure. As understanding increases, we introduce the most optimal methods from our experience to also help save students time in tests.

Meet our Tutors

Our tutors are university students who are experts in their field and passionate about teaching. Our criteria for selecting tutors are matric marks above 70%, exposure to the subject on university level and the type of personality that is easy to relate to in a teaching environment. (For Matric distinction-candidates, we provide tutors that have achieved distinctions.) Learners gain practical value from interacting with someone who sees the subject benefit to their studies and future career. Even though learners are exposed to some of the brightest student minds in the country, they feel like they are interacting with a peer. This is one of Mobile Maths’ great keys to success.

Experience

The first Mobile Maths tutors started educating small parts of Pretoria in 2002. Since then we have become a well-known name throughout Pretoria, having assisted students from all the major schools. Most of our clients are word-of-mouth referrals from other clients who are delighted with our tutors and their children’s results. We are currently expanding into Johannesburg – our strongest focus being on the West Rand, East Rand and Randburg. See our locations...

Lesson Times

Mobile Maths can assist in times of the day that suits the student best, morning to evening. We can also assist on any day, although the majority of our students prefer lessons from Mondays to Thursdays. During school holidays our students have the option of either resting from their classes or continuing uninterrupted.
